She is uncertain why, but she goes to the first one and ends up liking the others in the group. When someone dies, the group works together, using their own special talents to find the truth and share it with the police.  In the latest book that I finished, Cooper's sister is very close...

How to Fracture a Fairy Tale

by Jane Yolen This was a quick read as it was stories that I read when I was younger, rewritten, and changing the way the story is told but allowing the moral to still be present.

Walking to Listen: 4,000 Miles Across America One Story at a Time

by Andrew Forsthoefel Andrew set out on a journey across America using as the basis Henry David Thoreau and Jack Kerouac. He wanted to have more in his life and felt that if he took this journey of walking and listening to people talk it would open a new world to him. In a way, it did. He tells some of the more memorable stories and things that he encountered on his journey. He tells about what he learned about himself. I was laughing at the stories of the Squirrel feast and learning from a man who said he forgives because he wants to get into heaven and he knows from the Bible that if he doesn't forgive he will never make it there. He learns that part of him is afraid of dying, another part still hurts from his father and mother divorcing.  This story was so interesting and pulling that I actually recommended it to other moms at the pool.

The Animals at Lockwood Manor

by Jane Healey The book is set in England during WWII and the animals from a museum in London have been moved to a Manor House of a member of the Royal Class. The animals are stuffed and well cared for by a woman, Hetty Cartwright, and her staff. They are put into rooms approved of for storage and she is warned by the Lord of the Manor to not upset his daughter. To keep her from the animals and to not talk about anything of consequence with her.  The story is told from the point of view of Hetty and Lucy. This is not one of my favorite ways to read a book. There were other things that made the book unappealing to me but may have been interesting for others.

Grace to the Finish I have had these books in my TBR for a while and finally got around to reading them. In the first book, we meet Grace, her assistant (a very prickly woman), and the owner of the Manor House and his step-daughter. Bennett and Grace may have a very familial relationship. It seems that Bennett's father was in a relationship with Grace's Grandmother, making her mother and Bennett siblings. While all this happens they find bodies on the property and proving who did the deed they find that Grace is good at finding information through research and knows how to use the talents of those around her.  I just finished "Grace Against the Clock," where the Manor House is the l...
