Have you ever found a Series of stories and ended up starting in the middle? That is what I have done with this series. I found it while cruising the shelves at the local library. I loved the story and so started working on reading as many in the series as I could. I missed some and was going to go back and find them, but found another series and went off with that one. With the Pandemic, I found the books again on Kindle and OverDrive and Hoopla. I started borrowing them (again as I was able to find them) from the Libraries and working my way through the books again. I still thoroughly enjoy Betsy and her Assistant Godwin.
The most recent book that I finished is Thai Die. Doris decided she wanted surgery to make herself look better for Phil. She could not afford the surgery in the United States and had heard through a grapevine that she could have the surgery in Thailand and it would be much less expensive, including the airfare and hotel. So she left to go to Thailand, sending email updates of her adventures to the group that meets at the store. When she returns home, everyone is very complimentary and cannot wait to see what she brought home. She even has a standing Buddha wrapped in a very old piece of silk. She felt that it was not very nice and rewraps the Buddha in something nicer and throws away the silk. Betsy saves the silk and wants to figure out how to save it and then hang it. As this is all happening, Doris delivers the Buddha where she is supposed to, but then that store owner is found dead, Doris's apartment is destroyed and then she is attacked at a B&B where the group stopped to wait out a storm. As more people die, Betsy gets involved and shares her findings with Mike, the detective for Excelsior and they find out more themselves.
I am going to continue reading the books that I haven't read and re-read the books that I haven't seen in 12 years.
