Jacqueline Kirby is a college librarian and she has gone a journey, as her story progresses, she is challenged to write a romance novel as she feels that they are so easy to write and get printed and have become popular. So when her book becomes very popular, it gives her the opportunities that she enjoys. She goes to Italy and helps a group of college students. In England, she meets up with friends in an unusual circumstance and helps them get out of a bad place. Back in the states is where she is working on her Romance novels. 

I love the story where she complains about how horrible Romance novels are. When my children heard the line mentioned in the third book, they agreed and laughed with me.

In the first book, we meet Grace, her assistant (a very prickly woman), and the owner of the Manor House and his step-daughter. Bennett and Grace may have a very familial relationship. It seems that Bennett's father was in a relationship with Grace's Grandmother, making her mother and Bennett siblings.
